| Robotics Club Competition |
Since the program's inception in 2007, Immaculate Conception & Our Lady of Perpetual Help School has produced award-winning First Lego League (FLL) robotics teams. Groups of students ages 9 - 14 compete in official FLL challenges.
Over an 8-week autumn design-and-build period, the students use Lego MINDSTORMS kits and computers to make autonomous robots. These robots complete assigned tasks.
The kids also research current scientific problems and present their findings to experts. Sports-like competitions take place in early December in Snohomish and King counties. Team meetings are usually weekly.
Our school Robotics provides endless opportunities to have fun, learn teamwork, problem solve, and build self-confidence. No prior knowledge is required -- commitment, creativity, and ingenuity are the real keys to success.
FLL is a partnership between FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the Lego Group. Its mission is to inspire future scientists and engineers. Hundreds of thousands of kids in more than forty countries participate in this program. To read more about it, see http://www.usfirst.org/community/fll/.
Central to a strong team is strong volunteer participation. Got time? Help out! There are countless ways for adults to join the fun!
