The speech team is a tradition at our school. All students in grades 5–8 are eligible to participate. The speech team competes in tournaments with other schools in the Puget Sound region. This is a perfect way to build team spirit, develop strong communication skills, and gain confidence. Speech team coaches are parents and community members who help students practice oral passages, read storybooks, or write and deliver their own informational and/or persuasive speeches. Competitions are held at Bishop Blanchet, Eastside Catholic, and Seattle Prep; scholarships are awarded to the top performers at these tournaments.
