She has been part of our school community since 1993. One can often hear Mrs. Ferrians share with her students a favorite quote, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.” “I believe that all children are able to learn. They are born full of wonder, and their sense of adventure as they discover their worlds should be nurtured in our schools. As a teacher, I want to inspire children to learn, to advance their natural curiosity, and to encourage them to discover their unique potential. I want to support them as they develop their strengths, to celebrate their talents, and to scaffold them in areas of challenge, so they that can flourish. The students I work with often have different learning styles and, because of my ability as a specialized teacher to differentiate teaching, I am able to positively support these students and help them be successful in the classroom. Often, because they learn differently than other students, many of them do not believe in themselves or do not appear to care about learning. That challenge inspires me to be creative, listen carefully, and reflect constantly so that I can identify and utilize the most effective ways to help them be successful. Helping children succeed and feel self-confident is amazingly rewarding.”Karla Ferrians |
